Once upon a time tomato passata was prepared in beer bottles...this is because the dark glass of the beer bottle helped preserve the product. Back in the day people religiously saved their beer bottles so that in August they would have their container of choice for their passata. This sugo di pomodoro ciliegino prepared in the traditional dark glass bottle follows the conventional recipe and it is a favorite among kids for its sweet flavour.
